Welcome to the Bass Cadet online music demo. My name’s Max Edwards and I live in Brighton.

I use the name Bass Cadet when I’m Djing and also for my own dance music productions, partly because I do play the bass and partly because it emphasises what I think good dance music should be about. I don’t just mean a loud kick drum and a thumping off-beat trance drone either, I mean fat-as-you like funky-assed basslines – just try and imagine life without them!

The same goes for live music really, for me anyway. I’m happy to listen to noodling heart-felt stuff when I’m at home, and I’ve got no problem with people who are satisfied by simple classic “on the one” rock basslines, but if I go to see a band I need it large and funky if you please.

I'm talking syncopation & fat sounds - up-front slaps and pops on the strings or squelching room-shaking subs from the gear - all with rhythm and soul whether it's live, mixed or spewed out by a machine.

I also play the guitar and djembe. I’ve been playing instruments since I was 10 and Djing & producing electronic music for about 12 years.
